Two Taken Into Custody After Mass Stabbing on Train Heading to London

Multiple individuals were hospitalized and two were taken into custody following a mass stabbing on a train bound for London on Saturday night.

Update 2300: A witness mentioned to Sky News that one of the suspected attackers was a black man dressed in a black hoodie, wielding a “really large knife.” Estimates suggest around 12 people sustained injuries in the incident, though police have yet to verify this information.

Dozens of armed officers were dispatched to Huntingdon station in Cambridgeshire after reports emerged of a stabbing involving several passengers.

According to the Times of London, police took two individuals into custody on suspicion related to the attack, but the motive remains unclear at this time. Nonetheless, police have confirmed that several people were hospitalized due to the incident.

One witness aboard the London-bound LNER train recounted, “There was blood everywhere.”

Another observer reported seeing a man with a large knife, stating that some passengers sought refuge in the toilets while others fled, panicking and shouting.

“I even heard some people shout, ‘We love you,'” the witness recalled.

In a statement shared on X, Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his condolences: “Our thoughts are with everyone affected and we would like to thank the responding emergency services. Anyone in the area should follow police advice.”

Conservative MP and shadow home secretary Chris Philip remarked, “This appears to have been a brutal gang attack. My sympathies go out to all those injured and affected, as well as the responding emergency services. The police and government should provide an update as soon as possible on what happened and who has been arrested.”

LNER Railways announced that significant disruptions were occurring across all lines, advising passengers not to travel and to postpone any trips if possible, as emergency services continued to address the situation at Huntingdon station.
