A man who pleaded guilty to assaulting four women he sexually assaulted in his homes across the Dallas area, including three women who were alumni of the same national black fraternity, has been sentenced to life in prison.
Jeffrey Lemore Wheat, 52, entered the plea Tuesday in Collin County District Court. He was sentenced by judges in four different counties with the help of video conferencing, television station WFAA reported.
The assaults occurred in Dallas, Denton, Collin and Tarrant counties. He is serving two life sentences for burglary with intent to commit a separate felony, one from Tarrant County and one from Collin County. He was also sentenced to 30 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault in Dallas County and 20 years in prison for sexual assault in Denton County, according to prosecutor’s office and court records.

Wheat’s sentences will run concurrently, WFAA reported. Wheat’s lawyer, Greg Ashford, told the TV station: “He has the possibility of parole after at least 15 years, minus the three years he’s already been in prison. So we think that’s the best option for him this time. “I felt this was the best outcome for the lawsuit.” ”

Wheat was identified as a person of interest in the sexual assaults, one of which occurred in 2003 and the other three in 2011, after law enforcement used DNA and genealogy research to identify him as a person of interest. , was arrested in 2021.

The case was put on hold in 2003 due to technology limitations. But years later, DNA tests linked him to three 2011 cases, Tarrant County prosecutors said. The Collin County Prosecutor’s Office said investigators then spent two years working with the Genetic Genealogy Institute to conduct genealogy research to identify the person of interest.
All the victims in the 2011 incident were members of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority, prosecutors said. The Collin County Prosecutor’s Office said investigators in Plano determined that Wheat had access to personal information about the sororities while working for the credit card processing company they used.
