Tyler Lockett Seeks New NFL Opportunity Following Release by Titans
Tyler Lockett, the wide receiver for the Tennessee Titans, is on the lookout for a new team after being granted his release from the organization. This news was reported by ESPN.
Having signed a one-year contract worth $4 million with the Titans back in April, Lockett will be eligible to join another franchise starting at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old Pro Bowler had a quiet stint with the Titans, making just 10 receptions for 70 yards across seven games for the struggling team, which currently holds a 1-6 record and recently parted ways with head coach Brian Callahan.
Interestingly, Lockett comes to a restructured receiving lineup alongside Cam Ward, Tennessee’s No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
This season has been challenging for the Titans, who have the unfortunate distinction of having the league’s lowest scoring offense, managing only 96 points so far.
After their loss to the Colts on September 21, which ended 41-20, the Titans are set to face Indianapolis again this Sunday.
Before his time with Tennessee, Lockett was a significant player for the Seattle Seahawks, where he spent ten seasons before being released in March. He ranks as the franchise’s second-leading receiver with 661 catches for a substantial 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns.
In the previous season, he played all 17 games with Seattle, recording 49 receptions and two touchdowns, though his performance seems to have tapered off in recent years. Nonetheless, there’s potential for Lockett to still contribute positively to another team and mentor younger receivers.
Interestingly, Lockett was a third-round draft choice by the Seahawks in 2015, and he made a splash in his rookie year, earning a Pro Bowl nod and an All-Pro First Team designation as a kick returner.
