Tyler Robinson secures a defense lawyer in the Charlie Kirk shooting incident

Provo, Utah Shooting Incident

Tyler Robinson, aged 22, has been accused of fatally shooting Charlie Kirk, the founder of Shooting Point USA, during a lecture at Utah Valley University earlier this month. Robinson has now secured legal representation.

Kathryn Nestor, a seasoned attorney with over 30 years under her belt as a federal public defense lawyer, has taken on Robinson’s defense. This comes after Kirk, at 31 years of age and a father of two, was delivering a message to an audience when he was struck by a sniper bullet in the campus courtyard.

Robinson’s Background and Recent Changes

Despite completing mental health evaluations, Robinson continues to be housed in a special unit. In the past year, he reportedly distanced himself from family and embraced more political views, advocating more openly for gay and trans rights.

In messages to his roommate, identified as his “Trans-Romantic Partner,” Robinson allegedly confessed to the shooting. “I had enough of his hatred,” he reportedly wrote, referencing Kirk. He expressed that “some hatred cannot be negotiated.”

Robinson now stands charged with aggravated murder, a serious accusation that could lead to the death penalty in Utah. As such, his defense team is preparing for a complex legal battle, which will involve navigating the state’s laws regarding capital punishment.

In addition to the state charges, Robinson may also face federal allegations in other matters.
