“People in the fashion industry were saying to me, 'You're going to put a girl from the hood on your show?” “Why can girls in trailer parks become supermodels, but can't girls chilling in the parks of food?” And we fought, struggled, and made it happen. ”

The 51-year-old supermodel spoke about the criticism that Shaw has gained in recent years.

“Did we get that right? Hell no. I said some stupid s-t. But I refuse to have my legacy of some things linked together on the internet when there were 24 cycles that changed the world,” she said.

“And now, my 51-year-old, huge cellulite-covered tummy and 10 million big boobs, I concluded my speech by saying that we all walked through the open door behind that runway,” Banks, who was awarded the first ever Luminar Spotlight Onoreee.

“America's Next Top Model” premiered on UPN in May 2003 and ran for 24 seasons on different networks until 2018.

In 2020, clips from the competition series aimed at turning everyday women and men into supermodels have resurfaced on social media, with fans sharing negative feedback about how the contestants were treated on the show.

In one episode, Banks told contestant Dani Evans that she wouldn't become a “cover girl” with a gap in her teeth. In another clip, the contestants wore black faces for a photo shoot.

The former Victoria secret model is said to have told “deck below” chef Rachel Hargrove that she was a “plus-size model” when she auditioned for the show in 2005.

The bank previously admitted that some of his past statements about competitors were “insensitive.”

“I've seen posts about the deadly moments of past ANTM, and I agree with you,” the Sports Illustrated model tweeted at the time.

“Looking back, those were really off-the-scene choices. I'm grateful for your honest feedback and sending you lots of love and virtual embrace.”
