The CEO of Tyson Foods has announced plans to eliminate synthetic dyes from its ingredients by the end of May. This decision aligns with the company’s commitment to health and transparency in its product offerings.
Both Jimmy Dean and Tyson Foods, which owns Hillshire Farm, will remove all oil-based synthetic dyes from their products by the month’s end. This move was recently highlighted by Secretary Kennedy on Twitter, noting that Tyson is taking steps to phase out petroleum-based synthetic dyes from the food supply.
“As a recognized leader in protein, none of the products Tyson Foods offers through the school’s nutrition programs include synthetic oil-based dyes as ingredients,” CEO Donnie King stated. He added that most of the products are already free of such dyes and that the company is in the process of adjusting a few remaining items. “We expect to complete the removal of petroleum-based synthetic dyes from production by the end of May,” he noted.
This announcement comes just ahead of the FDA’s deadline for food manufacturers, marking a significant step towards improving food quality.
