Netanyahu Discusses Middle Eastern Dynamics with Speaker Johnson
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Tuesday after meeting with House Speaker Mike Johnson, emphasizing the potential impact of President Donald Trump’s military strategies in the region, which he described as “peace through peace.” He believes this could lead to significant changes in the Middle East.
During a conversation with reporters in Washington, Netanyahu characterized the recent 12-day conflict with Iran as a pivotal moment in the area’s geopolitical landscape. He advocated for the idea that power must come before diplomacy, stating, “The President and I believe in a doctrine called peace through power. Power comes first, then peace comes.”
He commended Trump’s decisive actions against Iran, labeling the country a threat to Israel and global stability. Netanyahu expressed admiration for American pilots, particularly pointing out their role in high-stakes bombing missions. He acknowledged the effective collaboration between the nations, saying, “The incredible American B2 pilots have demonstrated incredible patience, tenacity and power. The Israeli soldiers fought like lions; our pilots hit like lightning, our common alliance roared like thunder.”
As Netanyahu referred to the ongoing situation in Gaza, he acknowledged the challenges surrounding ceasefire negotiations but reiterated that Israel’s objectives remain unchanged. “We still have to get work done in Gaza,” he asserted, emphasizing the aim to free all hostages and dismantle Hamas’ military and governance capabilities. “Gaza has to have a different future. For us, for all,” he added, conveying a sense of urgency about these goals.
He noted that these discussions had previously taken place with Trump, and after a meeting with the President and Vice President on Tuesday evening, it appears further dialogue is on the horizon before Netanyahu concludes his visit.
Netanyahu highlighted the strength of the US-Israel alliance, describing it as unprecedented. “The coordination between our two countries, between the US president and the Prime Minister of Israel, was unparalleled,” he remarked.
