U.S. Forces Intensify Operations Against Iran Following Maritime Attacks

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported that U.S. forces conducted a series of attacks against Iranian targets for the third consecutive night. This latest operation involved strikes on various locations across Iran, especially along its coastline and in the Strait of Hormuz. The aim was to hit “Iran’s coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and maritime capabilities.”

The airstrikes began at 4:45 p.m. ET on Monday and concluded at 10:15 p.m. ET. They are part of a recent surge in military action after Iran targeted four commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz last week. In response, CENTCOM has engaged in multiple nighttime operations.

Additionally, reports indicate that Iran has launched attacks against Gulf nations housing a significant number of U.S. military personnel and infrastructure. Currently, over 50,000 U.S. troops are stationed in the area, as emphasized by CENTCOM.

“U.S. forces remain alert, lethal, and ready,” CENTCOM stated.

The Strait of Hormuz has been a contentious point between the U.S. and Iran, with the U.S. claiming oversight of the crucial waterway—something Iranian officials dispute. Recently, Iran established the Persian Gulf Straits Authority, mandating that ships register for inspections of crew and cargo. Iran favors a shipping route closer to Oman’s coast over the southern route advocated by the U.S.

In light of recent escalations, President Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire is “over” and that he intends to reinstate the blockade of Iranian ports, a measure CENTCOM has confirmed. This naval blockade, which initially took effect from April 13 to June 18, is set to resume on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
