US Sends Rescue Teams After Twin Earthquakes Devastate Venezuela
A US search and rescue team, with military support, is heading to Venezuela following two severe earthquakes. The tragic event has resulted in a staggering death toll of at least 920 people, with over 51,000 reported missing and more than 3,300 injured. Additionally, the United Nations is deploying 1,000 emergency personnel to assist in the overwhelmed nation’s recovery efforts.
The U.S. military is actively engaged in providing assistance to Venezuela after the catastrophic earthquake that struck last week.
According to a press release from U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), military forces are continuing to arrive in Venezuela to support relief efforts at the request of the Venezuelan government, coordinated by the U.S. Department of State.
“Southcom’s operations are entirely self-sustaining and do not rely on local resources as our teams work relentlessly to deliver essential aid to the Venezuelan people,” the statement noted.
Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez indicated that the death toll might have risen to 1,450.
American Rescuers Save Baby from Rubble in Venezuela
It was reported that U.S. Marines are making significant contributions on the ground, as highlighted in a recent post by Southcom.
“U.S. Marines in Venezuela are assisting both domestic and international first responders with search and rescue operations in the earthquake-affected areas,” the post explained, accompanied by several images.
Trump Administration Commits $150 Million in Aid
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has pledged $150 million in aid and dispatched Navy warships to assist in the aftermath of the earthquake that struck on June 24, 2026. The announcement emphasized that the Department of War is closely collaborating with the State Department to bolster disaster relief for Venezuelan communities in dire need.
