Reports indicate that the United States is preparing to supply Kyiv with intelligence about Russia’s extensive energy infrastructure, located deep within its territory.
This move is expected to enable Ukraine to more effectively target refineries, power stations, and pipelines, as it aims to weaken Moscow’s energy sector, which funds its ongoing war efforts, according to various sources.
Additionally, U.S. officials have urged NATO allies to offer similar intelligence support to Ukraine, highlighting a collective response to the situation.
Meanwhile, there has been speculation about the Trump administration potentially providing Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles intended for strikes within Russian borders.
In response, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the U.S. already provides regular intelligence to Ukraine. He remarked, “The supply and use of NATO and U.S. infrastructure to collect and transfer intelligence to Ukrainians is evident.”
Since Russia’s large-scale invasion began in February 2022, the U.S. has been sharing intelligence to aid Ukraine’s defense. This has included battlefield updates, satellite images, and other strategic information, though Washington has remained cautious about how this intelligence is utilized.
Following the breakdown of recent peace negotiations, President Trump appears to be adopting a tougher stance on Russian President Vladimir Putin, asserting that Ukraine is capable of regaining its territory.
The shift towards providing intelligence for targeted strikes and possibly weapons signifies a more proactive stance from the Trump administration. It may be an effort to compel Russia to conclude the conflict, although some analysts warn that this approach could have severe ramifications, considering Russia’s significant nuclear arsenal.
