Brazilian members of his country’s parliament are opposed to issuing him a visa listing him as “men,” despite his identification with being a woman.
Erica Hilton wrote to him Instagram Page Wednesday added that “I was classified as “male” by the US government when I went to get a visa,” adding that the visa he received from the US in 2023 listed him as a woman.
The change is undoubtedly the result of President Donald Trump’s announcement earlier this year that the federal government’s “official policy” is “only two genders, male and female.” The Trump Vance administration also prohibits the State Department from issuing passports with “X” gender markers.
Hilton requested that he travel to the US on his visa to participate in Brazilian conferences at Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology earlier this month.
Hilton has a unique personal history as a Brazilian lawmaker. He is a black crossdressing and former sex worker from Sao Paulo who won a seat in the Brazilian parliament in 2022, and is reportedly accumulating more than 250,000 votes.
Hilton I said Washington Blade “American LGBTQ News Source” – the gender change was not surprising.
I’m also not surprised by the level of hatred and fixedness these people have about trans people. Ultimately, the document I presented has been revised and I am also registered as a woman on my birth certificate. After all, I am a Brazilian citizen, my rights are guaranteed, and my existence is respected by our own constitution, legislation and jurisprudence.
Blade also reported that Germany and Denmark have issued travel advisories for trans and non-binary people who are planning to visit the United States to reduce the surprising factor.
These warnings come before WorldPride, which is scheduled to take place in DC from May 17th to June 8th.
