United Auto Workers New video released On Monday, he slammed former President Trump as “all talk,” intensifying a long-running feud between the Republican presidential candidate and UAW President Sean Fain.
Fain also drew a clear contrast between Vice President Harris, whose nomination was endorsed by unions last month, and President Trump.
“When it comes to helping autoworkers, Donald Trump is all talk and no action,” Fain said in the video.
“But do you know who walked the picket line on strike in 2019? [General Motors] “Workers? Kamala Harris,” Fain continued.
Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, whom she picked as her running mate last week, also met with UAW members in Michigan last week, and the vice president She talked about herself As a “lifelong supporter of labor unions.”
Fain and Trump have been trading acrimonious tactics for months. Fain accused Trump of working for the “billionaire class” during a six-week union strike against the Big Three automakers last fall and called him a “scab” in a speech endorsing President Biden in January.
Trump last Sunday criticized Fain for endorsing Biden after the union endorsed Harris, calling him a “moron” and a “stupid person,” and called for him to be fired during a speech at the Republican National Convention last month, to which the union responded by calling him a “strikebreaker and billionaire.”
“The record is clear: Donald Trump is all talk, but Kamala Harris has delivered results for autoworkers,” Fain said in the new video.
Responding to the new video, Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt told The Hill that Trump has “done more for the auto industry over four years than any president in history.”
“Sean Fein is a puppet of the Democratic Party and, unfortunately, he is not serving the millions of hardworking union members across the country who support President Trump because they know he will protect their jobs and put them first,” Leavitt said.
“Sean Fain’s empty words don’t matter. President Trump will take action to fight for America’s autoworkers,” Leavitt added.
