The University of Florida is ongoing an investigation after the two fraternities were suspended due to serious haze claims.
The University of Central Florida has suspended the fraternity between Sigma Chi and Delta Upsilon after multiple reports of “dangerous and deteriorating” Haze, school officials said in a statement shared with WKMG.
According to an incident report obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, Sigma Chi's fraternity brothers allegedly struck a pledge in their car as part of Hayes Ritual.

Members of the sorority of the house next to Sigma Chi heard the screaming at the police, saw the car hit the young man and heard someone scream “Help me!” And “My bones, my bones, they're broken,” the report said.
In a statement, UCF officials said both Sigma Chee and Delta Upsilon had suspended the interim organization and are currently under active investigation by UCF police on hazes of felony, including “risk of injury and death.”

The detective assigned to the case wrote in the report, “It is said that the Sigma Chee Brothers forced new members to stand in front of the car while members of the organization attacked them in their cars.”
The outlet revealed that Sigma Chi is a recurring criminal at UCF and was suspended eight times between 2015 and 2020. One of these 2019 cases included allegations that the fraternity blindfolded the pledge and forced him to use cocaine.
The national chapters have also temporarily suspended UCF fraternity.

Records obtained by WKMG show that the oldest incident occurred in November at a fraternity home on campus. An incident occurred while the UCF main campus was closed and was not reported until January 22nd.
It is said that the second Hayes incident occurred on the Sigmachee House campus. According to the logs, the incident occurred between February 3rd and February 24th and was reported on March 7th.
The third case, including Sigma Chi, comes from a hit and run allegation that took place on campus on February 24th.

The fourth Hayes incident was reported on March 4th.
Authorities have not released details about the specific cases that led to the investigation or whether the individual was charged. Also, how long the suspension will last, or the disciplinary actions that the fraternity will face, are unknown.
This is the latest case involving serious allegations within the school's Greek system, adding to growing concerns about Hayes culture on campus.

The suspension follows actions against allegations of anti-Semitism against Phi Gamma Delta last month.
“UCF explicitly condemns all forms of haze and is committed to taking charge of individuals and organizations responsible for actions that threaten the safety and well-being of students and others,” Courtney Gilmartin, assistant vice president of strategic initiatives and communications, told WKMG.
Gilmartin added that the suspension of fraternity has banned off-campus activities, including recruitment and social events.
