Sad News for Anchor Sheinelle Jones
Today, we learned that Sheinelle Jones’ husband, Uche Ojeh, has passed away at the age of 45 after a courageous fight against brain cancer.
The co-anchors gathered on the show to break the news. Savannah Guthrie, at the helm, expressed their collective sorrow, saying, “We share this morning that our friend’s husband, Uche Ojeh, has died after battling an aggressive brain tumor known as glioblastoma.”
Guthrie continued, “Words can’t capture the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an amazing person, and he was deeply loved by all of us.”
In a heartfelt message on social media, Jones shared a clip showcasing some inspiring moments and thanked everyone for their support during this difficult time.
According to reports, Sheinelle and Uche first met while they were students at Northwestern University, where she, as a new freshman, showed him around campus. They eventually married in 2007.
Uche had a successful career as a consulting consultant for over a decade, contributing greatly in that space.
Sheinelle, who joined the show in January, mentioned on social media that she needs time to focus on her family’s well-being.
Craig Melvin also spoke highly of Uche, recalling a round of golf they played last fall. He remarked, “We had many conversations about life. Uche adored his kids more than anything; he was proud of them. You’d find him cheering at every game and concert.”
Melvin added, “They shared a truly beautiful love story.”
Uche is survived by Sheinelle and their three children: Kayin, Uche Jr., and Clara.
