UFC fighter Payton Talbott defends pole dancing videos

UFC hopeful Peyton Talbot answered a series of unusual questions following his stunning win at UFC 303, saying he “doesn’t want to be put in a box” as he enjoys activities such as pole dancing.

Talbot improved to 9-0 with a knockout of fellow 135-pounder Giannis Ghemmouri in just 19 seconds.

After his win, Talbot was asked a number of unconventional questions in the press conference and interviews that followed.

After the match Press conferenceTalbot was asked about his love of skateboarding and how he stays fit.

“Which puts more strain on the body, skateboarding or mixed martial arts?” a reporter asked.

“Skateboarding. Nothing hits you harder than concrete. Skateboarding has ruined a lot of fighters’ careers,” Talbot replied.

“I just find it really hard for people to characterize me as a fighter.”

But that was one of the more common questions Talbot faced after the game. Two days later, in an interview with Ariel Helwani, he said:MMA HourTalbot was asked to clarify some viral videos that fans have been asking about.

Helwani asked about “Paul’s stuff.” video Talbot is seen doing “pole dancing” and “pole fitness.”

“[Fans] I don’t know how to interpret this… Let me ask you a question. [negative reactions] “How do you feel?” Helwani asked.

“I don’t really like a lot of MMA fans. [those] “I don’t say things out of ill will towards people, but I think it’s hard for people when they see someone who doesn’t fit their own standards that they’re used to,” he said of Dance. “They come up with words that they feel they can fit. I think it’s really hard for MMA fans to fit me, and I hope so. I hope I’m a really hard person to fit.” Said Helwani language.

“A lot of times it’s gay-ish: ‘He’s gay’ or ‘He’s fine’ or he’s this or he’s that,” Talbot added. “I just think it’s really hard for people to pigeonhole me into the identity of a fighter. Hopefully one day what’s expected of fighters will change. We’re not just mules that go out and beat each other up, we’re actual people with hobbies.”

Ms Talbot explained that it was her mother and sister who introduced her to pole fitness, and that although they are fitness instructors, they did not want to “disparage” pole stripping.

The bantamweight fighter was also asked to explain claims that a video has been circulating online showing him inserting an e-cigarette pen into his anus.

“I might be living on another planet” Helwani I told a joke“Can you explain what this is and why you feel the need to talk about this?”

Talbot said that the video in question was not actually of him, but of a friend. He claimed that the idea for the video was to find a way to get his friend to quit vaping, and that by doing this act, he would discourage his friend from vaping again. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

The Nevada native also told the moderator that he doesn’t like answering too many questions at press conferences because of the repetition of questions and the general notion that “you don’t have to explain everything.”

Talbot is 3-0 in UFC since November 2023.
