University of Kentucky Athlete Arrested
A University of Kentucky athlete has been taken into custody after a shocking event was reported on social media. Laiken Snelling, 21, was allegedly found to have hidden a deceased newborn in her closet. Interestingly, before this incident, she had shared her aspirations of motherhood online.
On Sunday, the Lexington Police Department arrested Snelling after discovering an infant who was declared dead at the scene. Law enforcement indicated that Snelling was indeed the baby’s mother.
According to a post from June 25, Snelling expressed her dreams of raising a child, noting this as a key life goal. She had included various emojis relating to motherhood in her “goals,” listing aspirations like family and financial stability.
Authorities are charging Snelling with tampering with physical evidence, concealing the birth of an infant, and abuse of a corpse. Reports indicate the newborn was found in a closet wrapped in a towel situated inside a black garbage bag.
A spokesperson from the university confirmed that Snelling is a senior and a member of the school’s competitive stunt team, described as one of the fastest-growing women’s sports in the U.S. She also “certified the birth,” as noted in police documentation.
After her arrest, Snelling was released on a $100,000 bond; however, she is now under house arrest.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Snelling’s attorney for further comments.
