In England, National Highways has advised motorists that some sections of A-roads are closed due to weather conditions. This includes:

  • The A66 in Cumbria is running in both directions between the A1M and M6 due to snow.

  • A628 Woodhead Pass in South Yorkshire/Derbyshire (both directions between the A616 towards Flach and the A57 towards Hollingworth) – Flooding

  • A1 in Lincolnshire, in both directions between the A607 towards Grantham and the B1174 towards Little Ponton – Flooding

  • Herefordshire A49 in both directions between A4112 to Stockton and A44 to Leominster – Flooding

Additionally, the A38 in Derbyshire is closed northbound from the A50 to Finderne to the A5111 to Mickleover, and the A46 in Warwickshire is closed in both directions between the A452 to Kenilworth and the M40 (junction 15). The road is closed.

Manchester Airport reopens runway after snow closure

Manchester Airport said in a statement that it had reopened a runway that was previously closed due to snow.

Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline regarding arrivals and departures as early closures may result in delays.

Flights to Germany scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. have been postponed to 9:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., respectively.

Manchester Airport issued a statement saying its runway was closed due to snow.

At 6:30 a.m., the airport issued the following message:

Due to heavy snowfall, the runway is temporarily closed and teams are working to clear the snow as quickly as possible.
