Ukrainian Drone Strike in Russia’s Krasnodar Region
KYIV, Ukraine – A drone strike from Ukraine resulted in one death and three injuries in Russia’s Krasnodar region, marking a continuation of Ukraine’s offensive operations targeting military and energy sites within Russian territory, according to local officials on Saturday.
The regional governor, Veniamin Kondratyev, noted that debris from the drone led to a fire at a maritime terminal. While specifics were scarce, Russian media claimed that damage was inflicted on the Black Sea export terminal in the village of Volna, which handles crude oil, petroleum products, and liquefied gas.
Ukraine’s General Staff refrained from addressing the Krasnodar incident, but reported that Ukrainian forces engaged oil reserves and pumping stations located not only in Russia’s Volgograd region but also in parts of Ukraine’s Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions occupied by Russia overnight.
This incident followed an announcement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who revealed that Ukrainian forces had struck multiple military and energy infrastructure sites deep within Russian territory. He mentioned that these attacks included military factories responsible for producing components for Russian drones and missiles.
Earlier in the week, Zelenskiy stated that Ukraine’s long-range FP-5 Flamingo missile successfully hit a facility in Cheboksary, located in the Chuvashia region, which is over 900 kilometers from the front lines.
As the conflict extends beyond four years since Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, the front line, stretching more than 1,000 kilometers, has become largely static, with drone activity impeding advancements. Consequently, both sides have intensified their use of long-range assaults.
Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to enhance air defenses following an assault by Ukrainian forces that ignited an oil terminal in St. Petersburg and targeted a nearby naval base during a significant local economic forum.
In a different development, a Russian attack in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region resulted in a local market fire, injuring nine individuals, as reported by local authorities. Oleksandr Hanza, the regional head, mentioned in a Telegram post that Russian forces had launched over 20 drone and aerial bomb strikes across three districts in the region, leading to six hospitalizations, one of which included a critically injured man.
