Ukraine reports drone attack not long after Trump talks with Putin, Zelenskyy

The Ukrainian Air Force showed in a Facebook post Thursday that Eastern European countries were targeted in overnight drone attacks.

“85 enemy UAVs were shot and 52 drones were unable to reach their target (locally lost),” reads the top of the post, according to Google Translation of the Ukrainian text.

The announcement comes after US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he spoke to both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky.

Trump says he agrees to start negotiations “quickly” to end the war in Ukraine

In a true social post, the president described his call with Putin as “long and productive.”

During President Joe Biden's White House tenure, the United States provided billions of aid to Ukraine.

But Trump is pushing for ending a long-standing war between the two foreign countries.

Ukraine is a “unrealistic purpose” to regain its pre-2014 boundaries.

He said in the post that he and Putin “we both agree, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the war with Russia/Ukraine.”

“We also agreed to start negotiations with each team immediately, and we will start by calling Ukrainian President Zelensky to let him know the conversation.

In a post later Wednesday, Trump said his speech with Zelenkey “has been very successful.”

Putin saw him as a “great competitor,” but he was still seen as an “enemy” as Ukrainian negotiations loomed, Levitt said.

“He wants to create peace, like Putin,” Trump pointed out.
