UK's Starmer says Trump 'has a point,' but 'I don't trust Putin'

British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer said in a new interview that President Trump “has the point” about the need for Europe to carry a greater defensive burden.

However, he argued that he did not trust Russian President Vladimir Putin as the US is trying to move forward by brokering a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine.

“A lot of people are urging us to choose between the US and Europe,” Stage told The New York Times. In the interview Released on Sunday. “Churchil didn't do that. Atley didn't. In my opinion, it's a big mistake to make a choice now.”

After a pause for a while, he added, “I think President Trump is saying that European countries need to put a greater burden on Europe's collective self-defense.”

“I don't trust Putin,” Starmer told The Times. “I am confident that President Putin will try to insist that Ukraine should be vulnerable after the transaction.
