UN concerned that Trump made significant moves to help Venezuela, according to Mike Waltz

Ambassador Comments on Trump’s Actions in Venezuela

During an appearance on “Hannity,” U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Walz discussed the international backlash following President Trump’s arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro. He noted that over 50 countries do not recognize Maduro due to his disputed election victory, raising questions about the source of the upset from the United Nations.

“It’s challenging to grasp their anger, especially when more than half the world sees Maduro as illegitimate,” Walz explained. He suggested that the criticism is largely tied to Trump’s proactive stance, stating that such actions could actually improve conditions for the Venezuelan people.

Following the arrest, the UN remarked that the U.S. action against Maduro contravenes international law and could destabilize global security. Currently, Maduro is detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, known for housing high-profile inmates. He faces charges, including drug-related terrorism, and has pleaded not guilty.

Walz praised the President’s “pragmatic action” concerning influential figures in South America. He asserted that, overall, the world is now a safer and stronger place due to these developments, although countries like China and Russia have voiced their disapproval of U.S. intervention.

Walz is supportive of Trump’s decision, stating, “This was the right thing to do.” He emphasized the boldness of the administration’s moves and criticized the United Nations, labeling it a “ridiculous organization.” He also highlighted efforts by the Trump administration to cut funding to the United Nations Human Rights Council, claiming it resulted in over 3,000 bureaucratic reductions, marking a significant shift in how the organization operates.
