Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's “The Story” that it is “fundamentally undemocratic” for the Democratic National Committee to file a lawsuit to keep him on the ballot because it has no confidence in the candidate.
Host Martha MacCallum said, “We're now nine weeks away from the election, and you became a supporter of former President Trump and then dropped out of the running. You dropped out of the running in Georgia, you dropped out of the running in Pennsylvania, Nevada and Arizona, but you're still running in Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina. Polls suggest that your continued candidacy could have a big impact on the outcome of the election. What are your thoughts on that?”
“We are trying to remove me from the ballot in every state where I could be an election disruptor and harm President Trump,” Kennedy said. “Ironically, the same Democratic National Committee that has tried to remove me from the ballot is now suing to keep me on the ballot.”
“I think the DNC is doing something that is inherently undemocratic. I grew up in the Robert Kennedy, John Kennedy Democratic Party. I was trying to make sure that every American had the right to choose who they wanted to vote for. I have a million Americans who signed petitions to put me on the ballot. We complied with all the signature requirements, but the Democratic Party doesn't seem to trust their candidates enough to actually go out and get their voices heard. Instead, they're using law enforcement to stop opponents like me and Jill Stein,” he said.
