An undocumented immigrant has been charged with molesting a female student at a high school in Virginia, and now, more victims have come forward, leading to additional charges, according to local police.
Israel Flores Ortiz, aged 18, initially faced nine counts of assault and battery for allegedly inappropriately touching a female classmate at a school in Fairfax County.
The authorities were alerted about several incidents at Fairfax High School on March 5. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued, and Flores Ortiz surrendered to police on March 7.
On Wednesday, authorities revealed that four more charges had been added after further victims stepped forward during the ongoing investigation.
Flores Ortiz is currently being held without bail at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
The Department of Homeland Security has stated that he is an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, having arrived in the U.S. in 2024. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that he is in custody.
Parents in Fairfax County expressed their outrage over the initial allegations. One parent, Stacey Langton, voiced her fears, mentioning that sending children to school typically assures safety — a notion that has been shattered with this incident. “It’s frightening,” she noted, emphasizing that no parent expects their child to experience such dangers in a school setting.
Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security urged Fairfax County to take action, stating that it’s crucial for the safety of the community that this individual is removed from the country to prevent further incidents.
In response to the situation, Fairfax County Public Schools emphasized their commitment to student safety, stating that any reports of unsafe conditions or incidents are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.
