Undocumented immigrant found guilty of plotting to kill teenager with a baseball bat is one of the recent arrests by ICE

The individual arrested for conspiring to kill a teenager with a baseball bat in the Philadelphia area has been described by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as one of the most serious offenders recently apprehended. Bou Khathavong, a dual citizen of Laos and Thailand, was taken into custody on July 25. He had previously been convicted of the conspiracy in Pennsylvania.

A statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) pointed out other significant arrests made recently. Among these was Santiago Geovanie Garcia Rosales, a 35-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala, who was apprehended for failing to assist someone in need in Harris County, Texas, on July 28.

ICE reported additional arrests, including Hector Bonaparte Contreras, a 42-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, who was taken in on July 24 due to a conviction for predatory sexual assault against a child under 13 in Chicago. Giulio Armando Gomez Fernandez, another illegal immigrant from Mexico, was nabbed in Dallas on July 27 for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Furthermore, Manuel Roja, a foreign national from Ecuador, was arrested by ICE Newark on July 24, having been previously convicted for child cruelty and negligence in New Jersey.

In its release, DHS indicated that around 70% of ICE arrests involve illegal aliens who either have prior criminal convictions or pending charges. During the ongoing discussions surrounding immigration, DHS emphasized its commitment to prioritizing American public safety. Deputy Chief Tricia McLaughlin criticized the current administration for what she described as allowing dangerous criminals into the country.

“President Trump and Secretary Noem have empowered ICE to focus on serious crime violations,” McLaughlin remarked, referring to offenses that range from serious sexual crimes to drug trafficking. The emphasis, she noted, is on removing those who pose threats to American communities.
