Discovery of Commercial Driver Licenses Given to Illegal Immigrants
State and federal authorities have identified a significant issue where numerous commercial truck driver licenses have been improperly issued to illegal immigrants.
In a recent announcement, Oklahoma’s Republican Governor Kevin Stitt reported that officials in Oklahoma had granted commercial driver licenses to 125 illegal immigrants. These licenses were supposedly misallocated.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is collaborating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on a task known as Operation Guardian. This initiative aims to apprehend undocumented immigrants driving illegally on Interstate 40 in western Oklahoma. Reports indicate that several individuals in this group possess commercial driver licenses obtained from various states, some of which are not identified.
Governor Stitt commented, “If New York wants to issue licenses to individuals who are, uh, unnamed, that’s their choice. However, once they come to Oklahoma, they need to follow our laws.” He expressed gratitude towards the troopers and ICE officials for their dedication to keeping Oklahomans safe.
On his social media account, Stitt shared an image of a license that had been illegally issued by New York.
Oklahoma is not alone in facing this situation. Reports suggest California has also been issuing commercial driver’s licenses to unauthorized immigrants.
During the “Operation Guardian” traffic enforcement sweep, authorities discovered that 44 of the questionable licenses were from California, alongside 14 from New York, 12 from Pennsylvania, and 11 from Illinois, among others.
Operation Guardian is actively ongoing, revealing similar findings and leading to additional arrests.
In a related incident, an individual from India, Harjinder Singh, was apprehended in Florida after a fatal vehicle crash while making a U-turn on the highway in August. This incident has drawn attention to the implications of illegally or improperly issued commercial driver licenses.
Another individual reportedly received commercial driver licenses in Washington in 2023 and in California in 2024, despite their illegal status in the country.
Just weeks later, Sean Duffy, who served as Trump’s Secretary of Transportation, took steps to secure American roadways and prevent illegal immigrants from obtaining commercial driver licenses.
Duffy stated, “What our team is uncovering should alarm all Americans. Issuing licenses for large trucks to potentially dangerous foreign drivers is a serious issue. This poses a direct risk to the safety of all families on the road.”
