Undocumented individual accused of holding over 50 child porn images — ICE asks county to respect detainer

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has requested that Dallas County detain a man accused of possessing child pornography. This request comes after information was obtained, according to a press release from Blaze News.

The individual, Olvin Bayardo Fuentes Borjas, who is 24 years old, was arrested by the Irving Police Department and booked into the Dallas County Jail on March 6. He is facing charges related to possessing more than 50 images of child pornography, which is classified as a first-degree felony.

ICE stated, “Every day, ICE works to remove criminal illegal aliens like this guy who was arrested for possessing 50 images of child pornography.”

Fuentes-Borjas has a bond set at $100,000.

Local news reports indicate that details about Fuentes Borjas’s alleged online actions led to his arrest. The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that an arrest warrant has been issued for him. They are urging Dallas County to keep him in local custody so investigators can transfer him to federal authorities.

DHS identified Fuentes-Borjas as an illegal immigrant from Honduras. They noted that he will remain in custody until ICE takes charge of the case.

The authorities mentioned that Fuentes-Borjas previously missed an immigration screening appointment, and a final order for his removal was issued back in February 2020.

Lauren Biss, Acting Assistant Secretary for the DHS, emphasized that the agency’s commitment under President Donald Trump is to ensure that criminal illegal aliens do not harm innocents, stating, “We will not allow criminal illegal aliens to prey on innocent children.”

Despite ICE’s efforts, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office does not participate in ICE’s 287(g) Partnership Program. However, Texas law requires local law enforcement to adhere to ICE detainer requests.

Irving City Councilman Luis Canosa expressed the need for improved cooperation between local law enforcement and ICE, suggesting that more comprehensive participation in the 287(g) Task Force might better prevent individuals like Fuentes-Borjas from being released back into communities.

As of now, the Irving Police Department has not commented on the situation, and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office has also not responded to inquiries.
