A girl lost her life Tuesday after becoming trapped in a hole in the sand that collapsed on a Florida beach, the Miami Herald reported.
The girl died despite rescue efforts, but her brother survived after being trapped in a sand pit. According to CBS News, authorities responded to the incident after receiving reports that a sandpit approximately 5 to 6 feet deep unexpectedly caved in while two children were digging a hole on the beach under adult supervision. reported that it occurred just after 3 p.m. report.

The boy was buried up to his chest in the sand until firefighters rescued him. His parents immediately rushed him to a vehicle operated by the sheriff’s office and rushed him to a medical facility, said Pompano Beach Fire Rescue spokeswoman Sandra King.
