Unhinged NYC gunman Shane Tamura pursued and shot at defenseless maid who managed to escape unharmed

A shocking gunman unleashed chaos in a midtown skyscraper, chasing a maid who, incredibly, managed to escape without harm.

The unidentified maid encountered Shane Tamura, heavily armed, as he rampaged through the nearly deserted 33rd floor of the Park Avenue Office Tower shortly after firing shots in the lobby on Monday night.

“When he reached the top floor, he confronted the maids who had been working there for years—beloved by everyone. They were just doing their jobs as people left,” said detective chief John Chell in a chat with Fox News.

“He shot at her with an AR-15. Thankfully, she escaped. He went right, and she went left,” he added.

In a tragic turn, moments later, he shot Julia Hyman, an employee at Rudin Management, marking his last victim.

“The crime scene was horrifying. I’m thankful this didn’t happen half an hour earlier when there were more people around,” Chell remarked. “The footage was awful. It’s been about 30 years since I last dealt with something like this.”

Witnesses reported that the rampage ended when he turned the gun on himself, as authorities later discovered a suicide note indicating he had intentions aimed at the NFL headquarters.

Other victims included NYPD officer Didarul Islam, and executives Wesley Lepatner and Aland Etienne.

Details of the Incident

  • Filming reports began around 6:28 PM at 345 Park Ave.
  • 27-year-old Shane Tamura was seen exiting a black BMW, armed with an M4 rifle.
  • He entered the lobby, shooting police officer Didarul Islam, aged 36.
  • Tamura shot a woman hiding behind a pillar in the lobby and continued his assault towards the elevator.
  • Another man was shot and critically injured in the lobby.
  • He permitted an unharmed woman to leave the elevator and ascend to the 33rd floor, home to the Rudin Property office.
  • One woman was shot fatally on that floor before Tamura shot himself.
  • The duration of the ordeal remains unclear, but police chief Jessica Tish later announced that the scene was contained and the shooter neutralized.

Authorities noted that Tamura accidentally selected the wrong elevator bank while searching for the NFL office.
