Unilever threatens to pull Ben & Jerry’s Foundation funding: report

Unilever threatens to put funds in for the Ben & Jerry foundation. The report says it is driving the progressive activity of the left-leaning ice cream brand at its muzzle.

The company has requested the Ben & Jerry Foundation to submit a prompt audit of donations to receive funds, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

London-based Unilever offers the foundation around $5 million each year based on the ice cream company’s sales and inflation formula, sources told Reuters.

Ben & Jerry and Unilever did not immediately respond to requests to post comments.

The company’s threat to Yank’s funds is retaliation for a lawsuit filed in November when Ben & Jerry accused Unilever of trying to silence the pro-Palestinian message, sources said.

Ben & Jerrys protested the war in Gaza and sought a police department refund.

The ice cream company known for its funky flavors like fish food has also accused Unilever of preventing it from opposing its opposition to President Trump.

Cohen, who co-founded Ben & Jerry in 1978, revealed earlier this month that Unilever was trying to bring together a group of investors as they prepare to spin off the company and other ice cream businesses. He begged Unilever to “put us free.”

Tensions have been bubbly for months as the parent company tried to silence an unruly ice cream brand.

In March, Ben & Jerry alleged that the CEO, David Stever, who fired Unilever, was a tour guide to the ice cream brand Waterbury factory, was involved in the company’s anti-Trump political activities.

Ben & Jerry said the shooting breached a 2000 merger agreement with the London Company.

However, Unilever argued that he has the authority to appoint a new CEO and that the decision will only be made after speaking to the board.

It is unknown if Stever is still at work.
