Union leader for NYC detectives claims Mayor Mamdani would result in 'increased crime and more victims.'

A campaign staff member for Zoran Mamdani, the leading Democratic candidate for mayor, was recently recorded saying, “Who’s to say what the police think about the Socialist Party candidate?” This raises some eyebrows about the campaign’s view of law enforcement.

Robert Ackley, the campaign’s citywide canvass manager, criticized conservative podcaster Steven Crowder’s covert operations, stating, “These are city employees. They’re telling you to shut up and do something. When did you get your input?” It seems there are some tensions brewing.

Scott Munro, who heads the Criminal Fund Association representing 21,000 current and former NYPD detectives, advised New Yorkers to approach the election as if their safety is on the line.

It’s a reality check for the city. A top aide’s comments highlight concerns about Mamdani’s campaign strategy, which some are calling “Operation Sham Dani.” His views seem detached from the realities faced by city residents.

Munro expressed pride in representing dedicated police officers who now feel demoralized and are leaving the force due to a political climate that seems against them. He pointed to Mamdani’s responses as an indication of his disregard for public safety, focusing instead on garnering support from radical left constituents.

Mamdani’s past calls for police defunding raise serious alarms. It’s not just about his rhetoric; it’s about the implications for community safety. With detectives overwhelmed by cases and resignations, the risk to New Yorkers grows.

There’s an important consideration here: the detectives Mamdani criticizes are voters too. If he dismisses them, how can he truly care about the average citizen’s opinion? This isn’t just political posturing; it’s a vital concern for public safety as crime rates rise in response to anti-police policies.

We’ve seen similar narratives unfold before, and the warnings about the consequences of anti-police stances have proven accurate. Now, Mamdani’s promises suggest a future that’s even darker, prioritizing ideology over community safety.

It’s essential to understand that Mamdani’s disingenuous “apologies” to police officers ring hollow, especially when his surrounding circle dismisses law enforcement entirely.

Should Mamdani take office, the potential outcome could be a significant reduction in police presence, rising crime rates, and more victims. With a City Hall full of individuals who openly oppose police, New Yorkers must approach this election with caution. Their safety may very well depend on it.

And I doubt Mamdani and his cohorts have any substantive solutions to offer.
