United Talent Agency Expands to Empire State Building
United Talent Agency, based in Los Angeles and known for working with A-list celebrities and representing figures like LeBron James, is setting up shop in the Empire State Building.
They’ve signed a lease for nearly 101,000 square feet, covering the 32nd to 35th floors. This move represents an 81,000-square-foot increase as they consolidate from three other Manhattan offices. The rent is noted to be around $96 per square foot, according to reports.
UTA’s New York office encompasses a wide range of sectors, including film, music, theater, sports, and brand advisory. Their prestigious client list features actors like Timothée Chalamet and Kirsten Dunst, along with artists such as Bad Bunny, Lizzo, and Christina Aguilera. They also back athletes through their partnership with Klutch Sports Group.
Bob Robach, UTA’s COO, mentioned that relocating to the Empire State Building “reflects UTA’s continued growth and long-term commitment to New York as a global hub for culture and business.”
He further stated, “As we expand our services, New York has become an increasingly vital center for our clients. This new office symbolizes our ambitions and helps us prepare for the future of talent and media.”
UTA’s agreement adds to the momentum of the iconic skyscraper, which is owned by Empire State Realty Trust. The company has invested over $1 billion to revitalize the once struggling landmark.
During lease negotiations, UTA was represented by JLL’s team, who noted, “UTA needed a space that would allow for growth and a desirable environment.” The Empire State Building offers a remarkable variety of amenities and flexible workspace.
Since its acquisition in 2005, ESRT has made significant investments in the tower, attracting high-profile tenants like LinkedIn and Booking Holdings. Reports indicate that prior to UTA’s signing, 96.1% of the building was leased.
Interestingly, despite the tower’s success, a 2021 New York Times article bizarrely questioned the future of this iconic structure.
In the leasing agreement for UTA, ESRT had representation from its internal team and the Newmark group. Recently, ESRT also secured a lease with Instacart for 26,134 square feet at a different location, further boosting their occupancy rates. Currently, ESRT has two large spaces available in its 8 million square foot portfolio.
