On Thursday, a new photo of the suspect in the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was released, sparking intense intrigue online. Among them was that the possible culprit bore an eerie resemblance to movie stars such as Timothée Chalamet and Jake Gyllenhaal.
The grinning suspect gunman accused of executing an executive on a Midtown street Wednesday was unmasked in surveillance footage released by the NYPD on Thursday, leading some observers to believe compared it to Hollywood mugshots.
“We got him, Jake Gyllenhaal!!!” 1 X user made a joke.
“Jake Gyllenhaal is wanted in connection with the assassination of the United CEO,” another wrote next to a photo of a smiling suspected gunman.
Some say the suspected assassin looked exactly like the 28-year-old “Dune” star.
“The person who killed the CEO of United Healthcare was… Timothée Chalamet??” Commenter I wrote to X –Another joked, “Did Timothée Chalamet kill the CEO of United Healthcare?”
Surveillance images released by the NYPD showed the suspect, who has not been named, wearing a black mask pulled down to his chin and smiling.
Police previously released a photo of a hooded man standing at the counter of a Starbucks on West 56th Street and Sixth Avenue, just minutes from the Hilton Hotel, where he saw Thompson, 50, at close range. He is said to have shot him.
The murder suspect was wearing the same grayish hoodie he was wearing Wednesday morning when he allegedly fired repeatedly at Thompson as the victim approached the hotel.
Police said the gunman fired multiple shots before quickly fleeing on foot and grabbing an electric bicycle to complete his escape.
