Suspected Assassin of Charlie Kirk Seeks to Ban Murder Video

This hearing is related to a motion aiming to reopen the case, citing a potential conflict of interest among the prosecutors.

University Settles Lawsuit with Professor over Social Media Posts

A professor at the University of Tennessee will receive $1.9 million as part of a settlement in a lawsuit claiming her constitutional rights were infringed upon. This case arose after university officials attempted disciplinary action due to her social media posts criticizing the late Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot on September 10 during his “American Comeback Tour.”

On Monday, the University of Tennessee System Board of Regents authorized the settlement for Tamar Shirinian, who described Kirk as a “disgusting psychopath.” Her remarks about him included beliefs that “the world is better off without him,” sparking significant backlash. Following these comments, she was placed on administrative leave.

Shirinian later expressed regret, describing her remarks as “insensitive” and not reflecting the gravity of the loss experienced by Kirk’s family. In a letter detailing her termination, University President Donde Plowman conveyed that her comments trivialized a tragic event and were hurtful to those grieving.

Rob Bigelow, one of Shirinian’s attorneys, expressed satisfaction with the resolution, highlighting the challenges of litigation and thanking all parties involved for their efforts. He noted that this outcome acknowledges the seriousness of the matter and helps everyone involved to move forward.

In response to inquiries, a spokesperson for the University of Tennessee stated they would provide no further comments beyond what was mentioned in the Board of Regents meeting.
