Brave Rescue of Children in Florida Traffic

Disturbing footage has emerged showing a stranger rescuing two young children who inadvertently wandered into busy traffic while their family was staying nearby at an Airbnb.

John Brittingham, a father of five, was driving through Brevard County when he noticed the girls approaching a dangerous road. After stopping to assist them, he swiftly picked up one child who had ventured into the street, using one arm, while gesturing to oncoming cars to halt.

As he worked to get her to safety, the second girl, limping toward him from near the sidewalk, reached out her arm for help. According to his car’s dash camera footage, Brittingham bent down, scooped her up too, and quickly escorted both children back to the safety of the sidewalk.

“It was frightening to think about what could have happened,” Brittingham reflected. “My life would have changed forever.” He was clearly shaken by the incident.

The girls returned to the sidewalk in about six seconds, yet their parents were absent.

Brittingham guessed they were probably around two years old, describing the way they reached out their arms to be picked up as “adorable.” Following that, he went from door to door in the area to locate their families.

Eventually, he caught the attention of the Airbnb occupants after quite a ruckus. He mentioned the family included “an elderly couple and a young girl,” and they offered their apologies.

“I was just relieved to bring them back,” he told reporters, noting the gate was wide open and the girls had wandered out.

Brittingham chose not to involve the police, emphasizing that his priority was to reunite the children with their family.

His employer, a local drone company, urged drivers to “slow down” and pointed out that some bystanders had been honking at the girls during the chaos.

“This could have ended tragically,” the company posted on social media. “Always stay vigilant; you never know what can happen.”
