Apple Set to Launch New iPhones Including Thinner Model
CUPERTINO, California – On Tuesday, Apple is anticipated to reveal a new range of iPhones, featuring a sleeker “Air” model, which some experts believe may hint at a folding phone in the future.
This thinner device is thought to sit between the more budget-friendly iPhone 17 models and the higher-end iPhone 17 Pro versions. It’s likely to be a highlight of an event, which will also showcase modest updates to Apple Watches and other established product lines.
The iPhone Air is expected to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, potentially acting as a bridge for Apple to enter the market of folding phones, which Samsung has been developing for several generations now.
As Apple presents its products from its headquarters in Cupertino, it’s doing so amidst a shifting global trade landscape, influenced by actions from U.S. President Donald Trump. Apple has estimated that tariffs could lead to over $1 billion in costs this fiscal quarter. Observers are keen to see if Apple opts to raise iPhone prices or explore ways to offset these tariff-related expenses, possibly by leaving entry-level prices unchanged while increasing costs for models with greater storage capacities.
Notably, the upcoming iPhones won’t feature significant enhancements to Siri, Apple’s digital assistant, as improvements have been postponed until the following year. In the meantime, it’s worth noting that Apple has engaged OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT, to enhance certain AI functionalities within its operating systems. Analysts are curious whether Apple will form additional AI partnerships before rolling out an updated Siri.
Last month, Google launched new phones, including a folding version, showcasing their Gemini AI model as part of the presentation.
