Urgent 911 calls following Greg Biffle's deadly plane crash made public

Accounts from witnesses reveal the devastating scene of the plane crash that resulted in the deaths of NASCAR legend Greg Biffle and his family. Recently released 911 audio obtained by TMZ Sports illustrates the chaos surrounding the incident.

In the recording, which surfaced less than a month after Biffle’s private jet went down at a North Carolina airport, a dispatcher reported a “massive fire” erupting at the end of the runway.

As dispatchers worked to gather more details, a caller attempted to estimate how many people were aboard the downed aircraft.

One witness, calling from a nearby golf course, described witnessing a “massive explosion” following the crash. The dispatcher urged the caller to avoid the area while rescue teams were en route.

Biffle, a candidate for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, was 55 years old at the time of the crash, which also claimed the lives of his wife Christina, their 14-year-old daughter Emma, 5-year-old son Ryder, and three others.

The NASCAR organization expressed its sorrow in a December statement, saying, “NASCAR is devastated by the tragedy of the loss of Greg Biffle, his wife Christina, daughter Emma, son Ryder, Craig Wadsworth, and Dennis and Jack Dutton in a plane crash.” They acknowledged Biffle as not just a champion driver, but also a cherished member of the NASCAR family whose contributions profoundly impacted the sport.

They continued, “Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Greg’s entire family, friends, and all those touched by his life.”

Subsequent reports indicated that before the crash, Christina had sent a text to her mother indicating that they were “in trouble.” Another source revealed that the Cessna C550 jet had been airborne for only seven minutes and was very close to making a safe emergency landing when it tragically exploded.

Regarded as one of the top 75 drivers in NASCAR’s history, Biffle achieved 54 career wins across the sport’s three major circuits.

At a memorial service, tributes were paid to his daughter Emma.
