Tragic Death of American Lawyer on Delta Flight

Reports indicate that an American attorney passed away on a Delta Airlines flight while traveling from Minnesota to England. Rachel Green, 44, tragically “never woke up again” after falling asleep on her mother’s shoulder during the journey to London on April 30, 2025, as stated in a recent inquest at West London Coroner’s Court.

Flight attendants attempted to rouse Green and called for medical support, but unfortunately, their efforts at resuscitation were unsuccessful. It was revealed that Green had a cocktail of prescription medications in her system, including various antidepressants, melatonin, cannabinoids, and low levels of alcohol. Additionally, she had a history of heart disease, which likely played a role in her passing.

Senior Coroner Lydia Brown shared in court, “This woman simply died on the plane. She had come to our country to investigate and had been staying with her mother for some time.” It’s heartbreaking, really—she didn’t even get to step off the plane before losing her life. Brown’s remarks hinted at the profound loss that Green’s family felt.

Pathologist Dr. Alan Bates mentioned that aside from one coronary artery obstructed by a myocardial tunnel, Green’s heart appeared generally normal. Myocardial tunneling is a common congenital condition where a segment of a coronary artery passes through the heart muscle instead of along its surface.

Roxanne Carney, Green’s sister, expressed her concern over the array of prescription drugs Rachel was prescribed. She noted that her sister had previously experienced abnormal heart test results but hadn’t been referred to any specialists. “I wonder why she wasn’t guided to see a cardiologist before being put on this medication,” Carney questioned, voicing a sense of frustration over her sister’s medical care.

During his closing eulogy, Carney described Rachel as an insurance lawyer with a deep love for history. “On April 30, 2025, we lost an angel on earth and gained an angel in heaven. Rachel S. Green, my beloved sister and friend to many, passed away peacefully in her sleep en route from Minneapolis to London for a much-anticipated trip,” he reflected, emphasizing her selflessness and the significant impact she had on those around her.
