united nations:
China saved US trade practices on Wednesday with a UN speech that burned “bullying” and “terrifying mail,” and the accusations rejected by Washington levelled its own criticism of rival Beijing’s policies.
“One-sided practices are on the rise, and bullying practices are ramping… blatantly challenge the international order based on international law and international law (and) that threaten stability,” Beijing’s UN ambassador Hu Kong said of an informal Security Council meeting on the use of threats in international relations.
The envoy targeted the United States directly, saying that the government led by Donald Trump would “severely disrupt the global economic order” by imposing shock tariffs on its trading partners.
“Under the disguise of ‘reciprocity’ and ‘fairness’, the US is playing a zero-sum game. This is essentially about destroying the existing international economic order, and is promoting its own “hegemonic interests” through tariffs.
“Should we adhere to the basic norms governing international law and international relations, or should we return to jungle laws where there is strong prey for the weak?”
A warning against the unsolved “unconfirmed” spread, the envoy said the high tariff levy would “retract the circle of history.”
“Max pressure, threat, or fear email in any form is not the right way to engage with China,” Fu added.
Washington called Who’s statement “operation of performance” and called it unreliable.
“The world should look at China’s actions rather than the claims of the sky when determining contributions to the international system,” added Ting Wu, the assistant political counselor for the US mission, “For too long, China has been implementing unilateral, unfair trade practices.”
