The United States executed a self-defense strike against Iranian radar systems, describing the clerical regime’s actions as “aggression.” In response, Iran claimed to have attacked a U.S. air base as tensions escalated during ongoing negotiations aimed at resolving a three-month conflict.
The U.S. military targeted Iranian radar and command installations in Gork city and on Qeshm Island, strategically located in the Strait of Hormuz. This response followed the downing of a U.S. MQ-1 drone in international waters, as stated by Central Command.
“American warplanes swiftly took out key Iranian air defenses, ground control stations, and two drones that posed a direct threat to maritime traffic in the area,” Central Command reported.
Fortunately, “no U.S. service members were harmed” during these operations. CENTCOM emphasized its ongoing commitment to safeguard U.S. interests, especially amidst the temporary ceasefire.
Qeshm Island is regarded by Western military analysts as Tehran’s “unsinkable aircraft carrier,” heavily monitored by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Navy and featuring an extensive network of missile facilities.
In a contrasting narrative, Iran alleged that it targeted a U.S. air base, though specifics remain unclear.
Kuwait’s military disclosed on social media that its air defense forces are currently facing “hostile missile and drone attacks,” likely prompted by tensions with Iran.
This Iranian strike came after an incident involving a communication tower in the Sirik area of Hormozgan province.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Aerospace Force issued a stern warning that if U.S. “aggression” persists, their response would significantly escalate.
Majid Ebn al-Reza, the defense minister in Iran, indicated that “our finger is still on the trigger” and hinted at a potential “new surprise,” although details were vague.
While discussions around a peace agreement continue, Army Secretary Pete Hegseth suggested that renewed military actions against Iran are still on the table should negotiations falter.
“We are prepared to take action if the situation demands it,” Hegseth noted during a recent trip to Singapore, highlighting the U.S. military’s strong position and resources.
President Trump again criticized those pushing for a quick deal to end the conflict, asserting that Iran genuinely desires an agreement advantageous to both the U.S. and its allies.
He expressed that political pressure complicates the negotiation process, urging critics to “just sit back and relax,” believing that everything would eventually be resolved.
