US deploys its latest super carrier — USS Gerald Ford — to the Mediterranean amid ongoing military buildup near Iran

The USS Gerald R. Ford, the largest and newest aircraft carrier in the US Navy, is currently stationed in the Mediterranean.

This deployment comes amid escalating tensions in the Iran-Israel conflict, marking a significant move of military assets to the area.

The USS Ford, a massive 1,100-foot nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, is slated to head to Europe next week. With this, it will join two other American carrier groups already in the region, as reported by CNN’s Zachary Cohen.

A $13 billion aircraft deployment is in progress, which aligns with information shared earlier this year.

While various aircraft are part of this deployment, it signals rising global tensions exacerbated by ongoing airstrikes between Israel and Iran.

The USS Ford will complement the USS Carl Vinson and the USS Nimitz, both of which are already positioned in the Persian Gulf. Earlier this week, the US announced plans to divert the USS Ford from its previous location in Southeast Asia.

Recently, it was noted that President Trump responded after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei dismissed a plea for unconditional surrender, making a mockery of the US strike against Iran.

Additionally, several other American warships have reportedly departed from US naval bases in Bahrain as part of heightened military activities near Iran, and aerial refueling tankers have also been deployed to the region.
