US Open champ Bryson DeChambeau announces golf challenge filmed with Donald Trump drops Tuesday

LIV golf star and 2024 U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau announced Monday that Donald Trump will appear on the latest episode of his YouTube golf challenge, “Break 50.”

The video, scheduled to be released on Tuesday, is a “special episode” in which DeChambeau announced, “For every score under par, I will donate $10,000 to the Wounded Warriors Project. Stay tuned.”

DeChambeau’s hugely popular “Break 50” series on his YouTube channel challenges him and a guest to try to score under 50 from the shortest tee box on 18 holes.

DeChambeau added that his team has reached out to both the Trump and Biden campaigns to see if they’d be willing to join his channel.

“To be clear, this is about golf and giving back to our nation’s veterans, not about politics,” DeChambeau tweeted. “A few weeks ago, I reached out to presidential campaigns from both parties. [Trump] “I’m up for the challenge. It’s a great honor to play golf with a current and former president, and you’re welcome to join me for a round of Blake 50 anytime.”

Aaron Rodgers quips about Joe Biden’s golfing rebuttal to Donald Trump: ‘He couldn’t even get off the stage’

Trump’s golfing skills have been a hot topic since last month’s presidential debate with Biden, who formally dropped out of the race on Sunday.

During the debate, Trump and Biden spoke about each other’s golfing skills, and at a later rally, Trump challenged Biden to a $1 million golf game, giving him 10 strokes per nine holes (20 strokes total).

“I’m also officially challenging Crooked Joe to an 18-hole golf match here at the Blue Monster in Doral, one of the finest tournament golf courses in the world, one of the finest courses in the world,” Trump said at a rally at Florida’s Doral course earlier this month. “This is going to be one of the most-watched sporting events in history. It could be bigger than the Ryder Cup or the Masters.”

It’s unclear when DeChambeau and Trump played golf together. In the teaser, Trump is seen without the bandage on his ear he has been wearing since the assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Trump and DeChambeau have previously played golf together during the pro-am at the 2022 LIV Golf Invitational at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
