Increased Military Activity Amid Middle East Tensions
Officials from the Department of Defense have been deploying B-2 bombers across the Pacific Ocean as President Trump steps into the fray of the conflict between Israel and Iran.
A report suggests the presence of a 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bomb in Guam, amid speculation that Trump may take military action against Iran.
The DOD has referred inquiries for comment to the White House.
Flight tracking data indicates multiple B-2 aircraft have recently departed Travis Air Force Base following Trump’s remarks, which set a two-week deadline for potential U.S. intervention in Iran. Notably, the Air Force can disable the jets’ transponders, which impacts tracking capabilities.
Initially stationed in Missouri, these bombers could be aimed at Iran’s Ford nuclear fuel enrichment plant.
Ford is Iran’s second nuclear enrichment site after Natanz, which faced attack from Israeli forces on Friday.
That assault reportedly caused damage to the facility, serving Israeli objectives and ultimately hindering Iran’s nuclear weapons development.
On Saturday, Israel confirmed it had targeted an Iranian nuclear facility in Isfahan, claiming the lives of two high-ranking military officials, escalating the ongoing conflict.
Later that same day, Israeli jets targeted military infrastructures situated in southwestern Iran, as stated by Israeli military sources.
Before the Israeli strikes, Iran launched 40 drones in a single night. An anonymous Israeli military official remarked, “We managed to take out many of their launchers, creating a bottleneck that complicates their ability to engage with Israel. Still, it’s important to note that the Iranian regime remains capable.”
This week, the Israeli Defense Forces reported the neutralization of several military leaders and nine engineers linked to Iran’s nuclear initiatives.
Trump has declared that hostilities will persist until Iran agrees to “unconditional surrender.”
Contrarily, the Iranian supreme leader has vowed to continue defending his country. In a recent statement, he said, “If the enemy perceives fear, they won’t let you go. We will persist in our actions as we have until now.”
