The 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student is believed to have been drowned by a big wave during a spring break trip to the Dominican Republic, the report says.
Sudiksha Conanki in northern Virginia was reported missing in Punta Cana after being last seen on the beach at the five-star RIU Republica resort. Conanki was part of a group of six female college students in Pittsburgh and was part of a group traveling to the area.
Conanki was seen walking along the beach with six of them on March 5th. In the middle of the night, most of the group returned to the hotel, but one person stayed behind on the beach in the early morning hours of March 6th, adding by the network, citing an investigation police report.
The report said Conanki and the person went for a swim and were caught up in a huge wave, and authorities said she was believed to have been killed by drowsing.

Investigators later questioned the “young man” who entered the beach waters around the time Conanki disappeared, according to Dominican Republic newspaper listin diario.
“We're still in the information gathering stage,” Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares told “Fox and Friends” on Monday when asked about the young man. “All her friends are explained. That's good news. Clearly, our hearts break for our family. We want to find her. We want to find something safe and healthy for her.
“Remind us that it's easy on our holidays. You can always keep in mind when, where, who you are with, and that you are traveling with a group,” Miyares added. “Unfortunately, you have a criminal element in almost every country. Their number one target is always foreign tourists. They know this is a place they're not familiar with.”
A spokesman for the Loudon County Sheriff's Office also told the Pittsburgh Post Gazette that Conanki owned's death report was “based on the last known location near the beach, but [there’s] At this time there is no evidence to support that conclusion. ”
Conanki is an Indian citizen and the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said she is a permanent, legal US resident. She is described in a flyer with dark hair and brown eyes, 3 inches tall and 3 inches tall.

The flyer was last seen around 4:50am on March 6th and said he was wearing a brown two-piece bikini, big round earrings, a metal designer anklet on his right leg, a yellow and steel bracelet in his right hand and a multi-colored beaded bracelet in his left hand.
The Indian Embassy in the Dominican Republic is working with the State Department and law enforcement agencies, a spokesperson for the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.
“LCSO is working closely with the US Department of State, FBI, DEA and federal partners in the Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) and University of Pittsburgh Police, who support an ongoing investigation by the Dominican National Police,” they added in a statement Sunday.
Dominican Republic's search and rescue team, Defensa Citizen Dominicana, said on Saturday it completed a full day of Conanki search in operations scheduled to resume on Sunday.

The University of Pittsburgh has been in contact with Conanki's family and authorities in Loudoun County, Virginia, and said it is providing full support to find her and bring her home safely, the agency told WTAE.
