US Vice President Comments on India-Pakistan Conflict
Washington: US Vice President JD Vance has stated that the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan is “basically not of our business,” although he and President Donald Trump are urging both nations to find a resolution.
“What we can do is encourage these nations to de-escalate, but ultimately, this is not an American issue to manage,” he remarked during a Fox News interview. He expressed hopes that the situation would not escalate into a wider regional conflict, adding, “We don’t think that’s going to happen.”
These comments came in light of Pakistan’s failed attempts to target military installations in Jammu, Patankot, and other areas, which were intercepted by India’s air defense system. At least eight missiles launched from Islamabad were neutralized.
Previously, Trump emphasized the need for India and Pakistan to “stop” what he termed “Tit for Tat” exchanges. “It’s very concerning. My position is to foster good relations with both,” he said, indicating his willingness to help mediate if possible.
Trump’s comments followed Indian military actions against terrorist positions in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) and Punjab. In response, the Pakistani Army targeted villages near the line of control in Jammu and Kashmir.
India initiated Operation Sindoor, targeting nine locations in POK and Punjab, resulting in casualties that included 26 individuals in Pahargam due to previous terrorist attacks.
