US votes against UN resolution condemning Russia for Ukraine war

The US voted against a UN resolution that is responsible for Ukrainian invasion and Russia's responsibility for demanding Moscow removes troops from Ukrainian territory as the Trump administration pursues peace deals between both sides .

Russia and North Korea joined the US in a vote against the European-backed Ukrainian resolution, clearing the general assembly 93-18 with 65 abstentions.

The US then refrained from voting in its own competing resolution after the French-led Europeans managed to correct it to reveal that Russia is an invader. The resolution passed 93-8 with 73 abstentions, with Ukraine voting “yes”, the US abstaining and Russia voting “no”.

The vote unfolds on the third anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, when Trump was hosting French President Emmanuel Macron in Washington.
