USA Boxing has introduced a new policy that will allow biological men who identify as transgender women to compete competitively with women.

Under the new policy, male boxers who “transition to womanhood” can compete in the women's category as long as they are over 18, have verbally announced their new gender identity and have completed gender reassignment surgery.

Transgender athletes must also participate in regular hormone testing, and athletes under 18 must still compete in their biological sex.

According to the new policy, boxers who “change gender” must have testosterone levels below 5 nanomoles (nmol) per liter (L) for three years before competing in the women's division. It is also required that her overall testosterone level be less than 5 nmol/L during the qualification period.

Boxing champion Evannie Bridges condemned USA Boxing's decision, stating the obvious, saying she has “nothing against transgender people” but “you can't bend the line in sports.” expressed.

“This is wrong on so many levels,” Bridges wrote to X. “I never agree with this… It's bad enough that trans women break records in other sports like track and field, swimming, powerlifting, etc., but this is a little different.” They break records. Not just crushing our skulls in martial arts where the purpose is to hurt you… but I think that’s wrong in all sports… I have nothing against trans people, but We cannot distort the boundaries of sports… I don't see any mention or discussion of trans men in the sports world…because they're not a threat…it's not just a question of the level of testing, but what about their bone density and a bunch of other biological factors. Not just that. Cutting off parts of you and adding boobs won't restore the masculine maturation your body went through before you decided to be a woman. ”

She went on to suggest that the best solution would be to “create a transgender division” to protect biological women from serious injury or death when boxing against biological men.

USA Boxing reportedly said in a rather sarcastic statement that the adopted policy was put in place “to provide fairness and safety to all boxers.”
