USPS worker is nearly mowed down during brazen mail heist

A harrowing video shows the moment a female postal worker was almost run over by ruthless robbers after robbing a mailbox at a California post office.

The cellphone recording, which went viral on Instagram, shows a dedicated, uniformed U.S. Postal Service employee physically intercepting the robbers' black getaway car.

Instead of stopping, the driver pushed the federal agent backwards, who continued to hold on to the hood.

“No, no, no, no!” the woman's male co-worker shouted as she ran after the car.

The employee was slammed to the ground as the black sedan turned right past the post office's open security gate.

The woman was seen getting back on her feet as colleagues rushed to the scene.

The brazen robbery occurred at the Fullerton Post Office just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, when police say three men entered the facility, grabbed a container filled with hundreds of pieces of mail and left. KTLA broadcast station reported.

A female USPS employee gave chase and tried to stop the scammers, nearly losing her life, as seen in a video shot by a bystander.

Miraculously, the victim escaped with only minor injuries.

However, the postal robber's victory was short-lived, as police officers who responded to the scene spotted the getaway vehicle nearby and stopped it.

When police searched the vehicle, they found a stolen mailbox and arrested the three men inside on suspicion of robbery, mail theft, and assault with a deadly weapon.

“We are working with our partners at the Postal Service and we have investigators from them,” said Fullerton Police Sgt. Ryan O'Neal told the magazine. “We are working on local charges and they will also be looking at possible federal charges.”

Mail theft is a federal crime punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

“I've seen a lot of mail theft in my career,” O'Neill said. “This is the first time I've seen a suspect steal a box of mail from the post office.”
