“After discussion in closed session, the board approved a resolution to censure Rep. Klein.” A statement from the board was read.. “The Board of Directors has resolved to request Commissioner Klein’s resignation as Director by February 19, 2024. Additionally, she will be removed from all committee assignments and placed on the agenda of future Board meetings. shall not be permitted to do so, and shall be prohibited from attending meetings of the Board’s advisory committee.”

On Wednesday, she posted a Facebook post last week that “implied” that the girl in the photo “may not be a woman and is unfairly playing on a women’s basketball team,” according to the censure resolution. “Member Natalie Klein’s post resulted in numerous negative comments that could be considered inaccurate, derogatory, defamatory, humiliating, harassing, or threatening towards one of the students pictured in the post. ”, the censure resolution states.
The board also said in the resolution that a comment supporting the student in the original post “called attention to the inaccuracy of the post regarding the underage student” was removed.
“Commissioner Klein has over three years of experience as a board member and is aware of the processes and procedures in place to address questions and concerns raised by the public,” the resolution continued.
In a thread on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, the board said Thursday it “deeply apologizes to those harmed by this act, especially the students who were targeted.”
“We hope the steps taken will be of assistance to students and families,” the board said in a thread.
