A man accused of killing a co-worker at a Utah warehouse targeted the victim because she “got his stuff dirty,” authorities said.
On Dec. 29, an Advantage Services driver said he overheard the story. nathan david evansa 41-year-old man, claims he was trying to go to a warehouse to kill a co-worker, the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.
That night, a co-worker left Evans and David Hinkebein alone in the storage facility. When he returned to work on January 1, he met Evans but not Hinkebein.

Prosecutors said a co-worker went near the office while she was at work and noticed bloody handprints on the walls and bloody carpet.
“When questioned by colleagues about the disturbance, Mr. Evans made it clear that he did not want to discuss the disturbance,” prosecutors said in a news release. “The next day, the same colleague noticed that the mess had not yet been cleaned up and spoke to Mr. Evans about it. Mr. Evans told Mr. Hinkebein that his work was done.”
Colleagues reported chaos in the office and that Mr. Hinkebein may have died.
Authorities were called to the warehouse for a welfare check on January 3 and found large amounts of blood and Hinkebein's body. Prosecutors said there was blood on her body from a hammer next to a mini-refrigerator, and her hair was the same color as Evans.

Authorities said they also found a trash bag containing bloodied clothing that Evans usually wears. Hinkebein suffered at least 15 blunt force injuries to her head, the coroner determined.

Evans is charged with first-degree felony murder and third-degree felony abuse or desecration of a human body.
“People do not expect to face violence when they go to work. Violence in the workplace is unacceptable and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office. Our hearts go out to those who knew Mr. Hinkebein through his work “those experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake County,'' Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said. “All persons accused of wrongdoing are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.”
Evans is being held at the Salt Lake County Jail.
