VA Clinic in Los Angeles Closes Amid Ongoing Violence
On Monday, Veterans Secretary Doug Collins announced the abrupt closure of a VA clinic in Los Angeles, citing concerns over escalating violence in the area. He emphasized that these troubling events are having a negative impact on the healthcare provided to veterans.
Collins, a former Republican House representative from Georgia, described the decision to temporarily halt outpatient services as “difficult.” He expressed frustration with California leaders, suggesting that they prioritize the needs of illegal immigrants and criminals over those of hardworking citizens.
In a recent interview, Collins remarked, “Now, veterans in Los Angeles are paying the price.” He went on to commend President Trump for his efforts to restore order and security in the city.
Collins reassured that the clinic would reopen soon, emphasizing the availability of care options for veterans, including telehealth services. The facility is located near Skid Row and Union Station, not far from a busy highway where tensions were reported over the weekend.
More broadly, Collins reiterated the primary mission of his agency remains focused on veteran care, stating, “The president told me to do one thing and that’s the care of our veterans.”
Fox News Digital has reached out to representatives from both Governor Gavin Newsom’s and Mayor Karen Bass’s offices for their perspectives on the situation.
